Privacy policy
Signature Society collects the information needed to take an order, deliver it, honor it, and stay in touch with the people who buy from us. This policy explains what is collected, why it is held, who it is shared with, and how to ask us to correct or delete it. It applies to signaturesociety.com and to every order placed through it.

What We Collect
Signature Society collects the contact and order details you provide at checkout, information about the device and browser you use to visit the site, and order confirmations from Shopify and our payment providers. Full payment card numbers are never collected or stored by Signature Society at any point.
Information from Shopify and our payment providers
Signature Society is hosted on Shopify. Shopify processes checkout and returns order information to us: what was purchased, the shipping and billing address, the delivery method, the last four digits of the payment card, and confirmation that payment succeeded.
Card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes are handled by the payment provider and are never passed to us.
How We Use Your Information
We collect information for four reasons: to complete the order, to communicate with the person who placed it, to protect the store against fraud, and to meet our tax and record keeping obligations. Marketing is a separate purpose, and it always runs on consent.
- To fulfill your order. Process payment, arrange shipping, confirm delivery, and issue replacements or store credit under our Returns and Exchanges policy.
- To communicate with you. Send order confirmations, shipping notices, and care or reorder guidance, and answer questions sent to our Concierge Team within 3 business days.
- To protect the store. Screen orders for fraud and risk, and investigate chargebacks and disputes.
- To improve the site. Understand which pages and products are viewed, and where visitors leave, so the site works better for the next person.
- To send marketing, only if you have asked for it. Email about new pieces, limited editions, and restocks, sent through Klaviyo and stopped the moment you unsubscribe.
- To meet legal obligations. Retain transaction records for tax, accounting, and consumer protection requirements.
Shopify and the Shop Network
Our role and Shopify's role
Signature Society and Shopify each handle your information in a different role. For everything you buy from us, Signature Society decides what is collected and why, and Shopify acts as our processor. Shopify handles some services in its own right, and those are governed by Shopify's own privacy policy rather than this one.
In Shopify's own words, where Shopify acts as processor or service provider of personal data on behalf of Shopify merchants, buyers should contact the merchant they interacted with directly. For orders placed with Signature Society, that merchant is us, and this policy governs.
Shop Pay and the Shop app
Shopify operates services that reach across many stores, including the Shop app and Shop Pay accelerated checkout. If you have used one of those services at another Shopify store, Shopify may recognize you at our checkout and offer to fill in details you have already saved with them.
Those saved details belong to your relationship with Shopify, not to Signature Society, and we receive only the order information described above.
Other merchants
Signature Society does not receive your purchase history from other merchants, and we do not share your information with other merchants.
Who We Share Information With
Signature Society shares information with the service providers needed to run the store, and only with the portion of your information each one needs.
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do share device and browsing information with advertising partners, which some United States state laws treat as sharing for targeted advertising. You can opt out at any time, as described in Advertising below.
Our service providers
- Shopify, which hosts the store, processes checkout, and stores order records
- Shopify Payments (including Shop Pay) and PayPal, our payment providers, which process payment and hold card details
- Klarna and Afterpay, which offer pay-in-installments options at checkout and process those payments
- Shipping and fulfillment partners, including ShipStation, which receive your name, address, and phone number to deliver the order
- Klaviyo, which sends our email and holds the information described in Email below
- Judge.me, which requests and publishes product reviews, and receives your name, email address, and the pieces you ordered to send review requests
- Shopify Analytics and Google Analytics 4, our analytics providers, which receive device and browsing information
- Meta and Google, our advertising partners, which receive device and browsing information and site activity, such as pages viewed and purchases, to measure and deliver our advertising
- Professional advisers, including accountants and legal counsel, where a specific matter requires it
Legal requests and changes of ownership
We also disclose information where we are required to by law, to respond to a lawful request from a public authority, or to establish or defend a legal claim.
If Signature Society is acquired or merges with another company, your information may transfer to the new owner. You will be told before that happens and before this policy changes.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on your device that let the site remember your cart, keep you signed in, and understand how the site is being used. Some cookies are required for the store to function. The rest can be declined without affecting your ability to place an order.
- Strictly necessary. Holds your cart, session, and checkout state. These cannot be declined, because the store cannot function without them.
- Performance and analytics. Counts visits and shows which pages are used. These can be declined.
- Functional. Remembers preferences such as region and recently viewed pieces. These can be declined.
- Marketing. Measures advertising and shows relevant pieces on other sites. These can be declined.
Managing your cookie choices
You can manage cookies through the cookie banner shown on your first visit, the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the site footer, or your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent checkout from working.
Signature Society sends email through Klaviyo, a marketing platform that stores your name, email address, order history, and how you interact with our messages. Klaviyo processes that information on our instruction and does not use it for its own purposes. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
Order and service email
Transactional email, meaning order confirmations, shipping notices, and Concierge Team replies, is sent whether or not you have subscribed to marketing. Those messages are part of completing your order and cannot be unsubscribed from while an order is open.
When you unsubscribe
If you unsubscribe, we keep a record of your email address for the sole purpose of honoring that request. Asking us to delete your information entirely is a separate request, covered in Your Rights below.
Advertising
Signature Society advertises with Meta and Google. We use the information described above to show pieces from the collection to people likely to be interested in them, and to measure whether that advertising works.
Under some United States state privacy laws, this counts as sharing your information for targeted advertising, even though no money changes hands.

How Long We Keep Your Information
We keep information for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for, and then delete, anonymize, or securely dispose of it. Retention periods vary by the type of information and what it is used for.
Order and Transaction Records
We retain order and transaction records, including information relating to purchases, payments, shipping, returns, exchanges, store credit, and customer service, for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected, maintain appropriate business and financial records, comply with applicable legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements, prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Where a specific retention period is required by applicable law, we retain the relevant information for at least that period. Retention periods may vary depending on the nature of the information and the purposes for which it is processed. When personal information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, we may delete, anonymize, or otherwise securely dispose of it in accordance with our data-retention practices.
Everything Else
- Account details. Kept until you ask us to close the account.
- Marketing subscriptions. Kept until you unsubscribe, then a minimal suppression record to honor that request.
- Concierge Team correspondence. Kept for as long as needed to resolve the matter and keep accurate records.
- Analytics and device information. Google Analytics 4 user-level and event-level data is retained for 2 months, then automatically deleted.
Your Rights
You can ask Signature Society for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and ask us to stop using it for marketing or targeted advertising. Send the request to contact@signaturesociety.com and we will respond within 45 days.
- Access. A copy of the personal information we hold about you, and an explanation of how it is used.
- Correction. Correction of information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Deletion. Deletion of your information, subject to records we are legally required to keep.
- Portability. A copy in a portable, machine readable format.
- Opt out. Withdrawal from marketing, targeted advertising, and any sale or sharing of your information.
- Non discrimination. Equal pricing and service whether or not you exercise these rights.
- Appeal. If we decline a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our decision.
Confirming your identity
We will ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request, usually by verifying the email address on your order. An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf with written permission.
State privacy laws
State privacy laws apply differently depending on where you live and on thresholds set by each state, including revenue and the volume of consumer data a business processes. Where a state law gives you a right listed above, that right applies to you. This policy does not represent that every state privacy statute applies to Signature Society.
Rights in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom
If you are in the EEA or the UK, Signature Society processes your information on one of four lawful bases:
- To perform our contract with you
- To meet a legal obligation
- For our legitimate interests in running and protecting the store
- With your consent
You hold the rights listed above. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests, and ask us to restrict processing while a dispute is resolved. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting what happened before.
If you believe we have handled your information improperly, you may complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather hear from you first at contact@signaturesociety.com.
Where Your Information Is Processed
Signature Society operates from the United States, and your information is processed and stored there. If you visit from outside the United States, your information is transferred to the United States and handled under this policy.
Where that transfer originates in the EEA or the UK, our providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or another approved transfer mechanism.
How We Protect Your Information
The site runs over an encrypted connection, and payment is handled by a PCI DSS compliant provider, so card details never reach our systems. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need it to fulfill orders and answer Concierge Team requests.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
Children
Signature Society is intended for adults. The site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to contact@signaturesociety.com and we will delete it.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Browsers send Do Not Track signals in different ways, and there is no agreed standard for responding to them. Signature Society does not change its practices in response to a Do Not Track signal.
Signature Society honors Global Privacy Control signals. If your browser sends one, we treat it as a request to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale or sharing of your information for that browser.
Changes to This Policy
We will update this policy when our practices change or when the law requires it. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. If a change materially affects how your information is used, we will tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.
